Process: Deckhand Pale

Blog

This is the process of making my first home-brew with my good friend. We made a pale ale with a heavy dose of Nelson Sauvin hops, possibly too much Chinook hops for bittering, and probably had our boil to close to the deck on a very windy day. Deckhand Pale’s name was inspired by Seattle’s amazing fishing history and how we did our boiling on the deck. Of course, a label had to be made and I approached it like any design project, concepting on paper and executing digitally. Using some old techniques I learned in art school, we DIY’d those labels and handed out bottles to friends.
